Our first NICU Alumni, was born at 24 weeks and was immediately admitted to the most critical section of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
A former NICU parent generously donated several Zaky HUG®s to the NICU and a nurse gave one to our daughter. Our family benefited profoundly from The Zaky HUG®, as it allowed us to bond with her when we were not there or when minimal touch was the only option.
The year after she graduated from the NICU, we started commemorating the day by donating The Zaky HUG® to the hospital where she was born. We continued doing this every year, and when our second NICU Alumni graduated, we carried on with this tradition.
By celebrating the milestone of them coming home in this way, we hoped that other families would feel supported just as we did through someone else's generous donation.
