48 | From Discharge to Home: Insights for Providers and Families - Part 2

EPISODE 48

This is the second episode in a two-part podcast series, From Discharge to Home: Insights for Providers and Families, brought to you in collaboration with AngelEye Health. This series was created to provide insights for both healthcare providers and families navigating the NICU discharge process.

Our goal is for the series to be educational, informative, and empowering; emphasizing how technology, like AngelEye’s NICU2Home, along with NICU Alumni’s support, can help families and care teams during the critical transition after graduating from the NICU, to going home, and beyond.

Part 2: Patent Perspectives on Improving NICU Discharge Planning

In Part 2, Andrea Hickson and Jaylee Hilliard, both two-time NICU moms, discuss the family perspective, their NICU experiences, and what it was like after they got home, sharing personal stories and insights.

They explore the emotional challenges faced by parents during and after their NICU journey, the importance of support systems, and the role of tools like NICU2Home in easing the transition from hospital to home. The conversation emphasizes the need for ongoing support and resources for families, highlighting the collaborative efforts of NICU Alumni and Angel Eye Health to empower parents and improve outcomes for NICU graduates.

Quick Notes from the Episode:

  • The NICU experience is emotionally challenging for families. Support systems are crucial during the NICU journey.

  • Parents often feel unprepared after discharge and transitioning home can feel like falling off a cliff.

  • Building confidence in parenting is a gradual process. Parents benefit when they hear information multiple times.

  • Community resources can also help bridge the gap post-NICU.

  • Support available from AngelEye during a NICU Stay and Post-NICU

  • Support available from NICU Alumni Post NICU
